R&L Blank Canvas Line

As much as we LOVE patterns and prints and color and texture around here, sometimes the visual equivalent of toast + butter can really hit the spot.
Ahhhh, so restful and satisfying.

Where to find us in Austin TX

If we were ACTually there - in our physical form - we'd be found ordering "dos carnitas por favor" at a taco truck, shopping at Spartan, cannonballing into Barton Springs, and catching a movie and some fried pickles at the Alamo Drafthouse. And eating BBQ.

What's the next best thing to finding us within Austin city limits? Finding our notebooks at Spartan on South Lamar! You'll also find the work of our fellow NY Gift fair booth buddies - Plainmade and Grain!

The Spartan Shop blog has been a regular visit for me of late. A fresh (to me) mix of fashion, art, photography, and music mentions. Just enough for a quick blog break when I'm wondering what's hot in Texas.

Look who made the papers!

Or should I say, magazine. Specifically, Do It Yourself Magazine - a Better Homes & Gardens Special Interest Publication - available at Home Depot, and perhaps at your local news stand.
It's a cute magazine, and we're in great company within the article, titled, "DIY:Best in Show". What can I say, I certainly love and rely on the blogosphere - but there's something really satisfying about seeing your work on a glossy magazine page. I guess that's my preference for paper talking.

Hostess with the mostess!

Is that still cute? Let's pretend it still is, and move onto more interesting topics.

Such as: Herman Yu's studio opening party! Where the most interesting folks in Seattle design and beyond mingled with... us? What a space! What a spread! As you can see in the pics, Herman's new studio feels like the waiting room to heaven. Flooded with light, open and airy, homemade Vietnamese food, and a sweet loft. I swear the egg roll and mango salad platters kept refilling themselves.

We're lucky enough to know Herman through her incredible work and locational coincidences (she and my fella were studio neighbors). We've Wii bowled together! A really cool lady, who's so warm and generous (and modest!), and great fun to chat with. I won't embarass her by gushing about her work, I'll just say she creates the most beautiful images you will ever see in your life. That's all.
